Creamy apple pie

An apple pie is something that recalls home, recalls that feeling of feeling good.

It reflects how I feel being back to this loved blog.

I was away for job reasons and also for some trips I’ve been doing (just love traveling too), and I finally could manage to come back. I then decided to change the provider to unify my Italian version to this one and begin adding recipes in my mother language, Portuguese. The fact is that due to a mistake in my new provider, quite all of my photos have disappeared from the blog. It’s just a question of time, as a friend will help me with the backup I need. Sorry, I hope they’ll be back as soon as possible.

Back to this creamy apple pie, I prepared it this Saturday and we ate it all quite immediately. It has little dough comparing to the apples you use. It is really tasty and inviting and I am sure it’s going to become a classical recipe here at home.

I found this recipe on a post by Nicholas Day and prepared it the same day (yes, there are some recipes that just capture me this way! Soon I’ll be posting another one of the fake french fries that I prepared two days in a row).


  • 3 medium apples
  • ½ cup of all purpose flour
  • 1 Tsp of baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅓ cup of sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 Tsp of vanilla extract
  • 6 Tbsp of milk
  • 2 Tbsp of melted (cold) butter
  • icing sugar (optional)
  1. Turn on the oven to 200°C/392°F.
  2. Line a 20x20cm (8x8in) pan with parchment paper.
  3. Peel the apples and cut each in thin slices.
  4. In a bowl mix the flour with the baking powder.
  5. In a bigger bowl put the eggs, sugar and salt and whisk for a couple of minutes. Add vanilla, whisk and add milk and butter, whisking until it is homogeneous.
  6. Pour the flour into the eggs bowl and mix until well combined.
  7. With a spatula add the apple slices and mix gently until all slices are covered with the batter.
  8. Pour it all into the pan and bake for 40 minutes.
