The easiest (but not less tasty) banana ice cream

banana ice cream

My mother sent me this banana ice cream recipe some time ago, through email. I didn’t prepare it until yesterday and remained astonished. How can a simple ingredient result in such a transformation?

Yes, because it’s the simplest recipe I’ve ever known. I only accept to call it recipe because you need to know how to transform it, otherwise it’s just…banana!

This banana ice cream comes in a right moment, when weather begins to warm (at least here in the north hemisphere ;-)), and we often need an extra charge to face the day. Bananas contain a lot of nutritional elements that make of them the ideal fruit for people who practice sports, as it gives the right energy without a stomach heaviness. It is ideal for all ages and situations, and served as an ice cream is even better.

Here I copied and pasted a Nutritional Facts label from SelfNutritionData website that shows that a large banana contains only…121 calories!

So, how to prepare this ice cream? Just peel a banana (one per person) and cut it in slices. Put it on a tray inside a plastic bag and freeze it. I said a tray because the slices should be separated, aside. When it’s frozen, just put it inside your blender and turn it on. The more you mix it the more creamy it comes. I did it twice since now. The first time I mixed only until it was homogeneous and I served it with the ice cream server, making a real ice cream ball. Today I mixed it longer and it was creamy just like you see on these photos. Both delicious!
